How much does a consultation cost?

The first consultation is charged at 200 euros.

The second and third pre-operative consultations are not charged.

Post-operative consultations are not charged for one year after the procedure.

What does a quotation for aesthetic surgery contain?

A detailed written quotation is given at the end of the consultation. It includes:

• the clinic's charges, covering the operating theatre and the room;
• the surgeon's fees;
• the anaesthetist's fees;
• the cost of any device, an implant for example;
• the cost of surgical assistance.

These amounts vary with the extent of the procedure, its duration and the type of anaesthesia. No price can therefore be quoted before the clinical examination.

How are non-surgical treatments charged?

For injections of botulinum toxin or hyaluronic acid, a quotation is drawn up according to the number of areas to be treated, and therefore the quantity of product used.

Is there a statutory waiting period before surgery?

Yes. French law requires a minimum reflection period of fifteen days between the quotation being issued and an aesthetic surgery procedure being carried out. No deposit may be requested during this period.

This period is not an administrative formality: it exists so that the decision is taken at a distance from the consultation, without pressure.

Which procedures may be reimbursed?

Purely aesthetic surgical procedures are not covered by French health insurance.

Certain reconstructive procedures may be, subject to conditions and prior authorisation: breast reduction with functional impact, tuberous breasts, Poland syndrome, marked breast asymmetry, reconstruction after mastectomy, gynaecomastia, otoplasty with documented psychological impact, upper blepharoplasty affecting the visual field, abdominoplasty with an apron of skin overhanging the pubis, arm or thigh lift after major weight loss. Eligibility is assessed in consultation.

Frequently asked questions

Can private health insurance contribute?

Where the procedure is covered by French health insurance, private insurance may top up the reimbursement depending on your policy. For an aesthetic procedure that is not covered, no contribution is possible.

Is a written quotation compulsory?

Yes, for any aesthetic surgery procedure. It is handed over in person and starts the fifteen-day reflection period.
